Angies List : Source for Home Service Contractors

Provide useful information on reference resources, jobs and training for people who can work

In 1995, Angie Hicks literally set out door-to-door in Columbus, OH, recruiting members and collecting reports from friends and neighbors. Taking the "ask-your-neighbor" approach to a higher level, Angie used the detailed feedback from members as the basis for providing up-to-date, reliable, unbiased ratings and reviews on local services.

AngiesList : Source for Home Service Contractors

Here's How Angies List Works:

  • Angie's list is a member driven service where homeowners across the U.S. share their ratings and reviews on local service companies. Ratings are based on an A-F scale similar to a grade school report card. Members have the opportunity to rate a company in several categories including: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality of Work, Professionalism, Price and Overall Experience.

  • Once a review is submitted by a member it is checked and double checked by an Angie's List team who scours every single report for red flags. After the report is checked it is posted on the site for members to access.

  • Companies don't pay to be on the List, nor can they put themselves on the List. Members submit detailed reports (both good and bad) on companies they've hired. They rate their experience and describe what it was like to work with the contractor.

  • Members receive a monthly award winning magazine filled with home maintenance articles and tips, buyer beware alerts, comparative shopping information on local services to point out the best deals in town, and exclusive coupons from companies on the list.

AngiesList members submit more than 15,000 reports each month about the companies they've hired. They describe their project (including the cost), and grade the company's response time, prices and quality of work - good or bad. In reading the reviews, you'll know if a crew was conscious of children and pets, cleaned up after themselves, or just totally botched the job.

Consumers turn to AngiesList to get the real scoop on local contractors and companies in more than 250 different categories. Currently, more than 500,000 consumers across the U.S. rely on AngiesList to help them find the right contractor or company for the job they need done. Members have unlimited access to the list via Internet or phone; receive the Angies List award winning magazine, which includes articles on home improvement and maintenance, consumer trends and scam alerts; and they can utilize the Angie's List complaint resolution service.
