ATV Racing Part
ATV Racing or All Terrain Vehicle Racing is a popular off-road racing event. All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are motorized cycles, with 3 or 4 balloon-style tires, designed for off-road use on a variety of terrains. ATV models produced today are divided into sport and utility types. Sport models are generally small,lightweight 2-wheel drive and go fast and the ATV Racing parts are very delicate. Utility models are generally bigger, 4-wheel drive and have the ability to haul small loads. An ATV usually refers to a four-wheeled vehicle designed for off the road use. It is also called a quad.
The All-Terrain Vehicle Association (ATVA) is the national membership organization for devoted ATV riders and owners. ATV racing is held on a variety of terrains using different types of ATVs.
Snowmobile Drag Racing
Snowmobile Drag racing is an exciting spectator sport. The World Snowmobile Association (WSA) is a governing body that organizes,promotes, and regulates many snowmobile racing competitions, including the:
- Snocross series
- Hillcross® series
- Watercross series
- Extreme Ice series
- Terrain-X (cross-country) circuit
A snowmobile is a land vehicle propelled by one or two rubbertracks, with skis for steering. Snowmobiles are designed to be operated on snow and ice, and require no road or trail. Snowmobiles are usually driven by two-stroke gasoline/petrol combustion engines. Racing snowmobiles reach speeds in excess of 260 km/h (160 mph).
Snocross is today’s most popular form of snowmobile racing.It has high-flying aerial displays and short-track, which makes it both spectator and television friendly. A Snocross track features tight turns, banked corners and a variety of bumps. In order to race in the WSA or at WSA sanctioned events, you need to be a competition member. TT (Tourist Trophy Game)
Tourist Trophy races are held on prepared dirt tracks. These include right and left hand turns and jumps. Tourist Trophy events consist of qualifying heats to determine who will qualify for the main event and starting position for the main. Finishing position in the main event decides the winner.
Motocross
Motocross races are run over closed courses utilizing natural terrain and some man-made obstacles to test riders' skill and speed. There are different classes of machines in a motocross:
- 0 to 69cc - for 6 to 12 year olds
- 70 to 90cc - for 12 to 15 year olds
- 91cc to unlimited - for riders 16 to 40-plus
Motocross events usually consist of two or more heats, called motos, that are run for a prescribed period of time or a set number of laps. Points in each moto are earned based on finishing position and the rider with the best total score is the overall winner.
Short Track
Short track racing is dirt track for ATV racings. These races are run on dirt ovals of approximately 3/8 of a mile in length.
Cross Country and Hare Scrambles
Cross Country races and hare scrambles are conducted on marked courses over rugged natural terrain. The events are run for a designated number of laps or for a prescribed race time, usually one or two hours. Riders need to be fast, and physically fit enough to maintain the race pace for hours at a time.
Ice Racing
Ice racing is held in countries with harsh winters. Ice races are held primarily on short ovals, but some run ice Tourist Trophy races that include left and right turns.
A rider must rely on their own judgment and assume all risks when participating in any type of ATV racing. All ATVA-sanctioned meets are conducted under the guidelines established in the ATVA rulebook and district supplemental rules though each club or promoter may operate a bit differently. You must be an ATVA Competition member to compete in any type of ATVA competition.
