RC Car / Remote Control Car
Building and racing a remote control car and truck is a hobby that is fast gaining popularity the world over. A hobby RC car is more durable and is tunable unlike a toy remote control car.
A nitro RC car requires radio control, nitro engine and nitro fuel. Certain accessories are also required. A pull start nitro engine costs more than a non-pull one. Electric remote control car and trucks are powered by electric batteries.
When you are buying remote control car parts or accessories, you need to take into consideration your budget and other factors. A beginner to the RC car hobby can start with a Ready to Run (RTR) model. Such a remote control car comes pre-built along with a motor, battery packs and electronic speed control.
Mini RC car and truck models have become very popular, as they are inexpensive but just as much fun. Popular mini RC car makes are ZipZaps racers, The Hobbico Micro Sizers and the Char-G Micro Racers.
Remote control car of a better quality have average speeds of 25 to 35 mph if they are intended for off road use whereas on road RC car models reach speeds of over 50 mph. A remote control car which is of the off road type can handle rough terrain and large jumps. The on road remote control car is more suited for speed. A 1/10th scale RC car is popular but larger 1/8th scale kits are also available.
