BOTOX - Chemical Peels - Laser Resurfacing

Cosmetic Dermatology Treatment signs aging and aimed at both the rejuvenation and prevention of damage to the skin.

BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin)

Botox - a purified protein is a cosmetic dermatology treatment used to reduce dynamic wrinkles. These wrinkles are due to the repeated contraction of facial muscles such as crow’s feet that occur next to the eyes and frown lines. Botox is injected in extremely small amounts into the muscles of the face that cause wrinkles. Carefully placed such injections temporarily paralyze these muscles thus reducing the appearance of lines with time.

The effect of Botulinum toxin is only temporary, and injections usually need to be repeated every 3-6 months for sustained benefit. With subsequent sessions, the muscles forming the wrinkles get retrained - the patient unlearns his/her habitual frowning, squinting, etc. Thus, interval between sessions becomes longer.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are medicines that are painted on the diseased or aged skin to improve problems like: rough texture, fine lines, discolored patches, prominent pores and oily skin. This cosmetic dermatology treatment uses a chemical solution to improve and smoothen the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. Chemical peel may also remove pre-cancerous skin growths, soften acne scars and even control acne, to some extent.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing offers benefits similar to a chemical peel and is increasingly used by many dermatologists to treat wrinkles, age spots, scars, along with benign, cancerous and precancerous skin growths or lumps. A variety of carbon dioxide and erbium lasers are used in this treatment and these have slightly different benefits and disadvantages. The carbon dioxide laser is especially effective for treating enlarged bulbous noses (rhinophyma or 'potato nose') that can occur in males with rosacea, and for treating sun-damaged lips with precancerous changes. The cosmetic dermatology treatment also includes Sclerotherapy used to treat unwanted, dilated blood vessels or veins particularly on the legs. Meanwhile cosmetic dermatology treatment also encompasses lasers used in the removal of tattoos and birthmark.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion literally polishes away skin imperfections painlessly such as uneven skin tone, superficial discolored patches, fine lines from sun damage, and open & closed comedones. This dermatological treatment is a good cosmetic relief for patients with scars. Over time these scars gradually fade away. This cosmetic dermatology treatment may be the perfect solution for people who aren't willing to invest their time, expense and longer healing time sometimes associated with other skin resurfacing treatments. It is a quick and easy procedure that produces effective results for men and women of all ages and lifestyles.
