Country Music History

Acording to the history of Country music Jimmie Rodgers is known as the ‘Father of Country Music’. Country music is said to have found its origins when Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter family signed a contract with Victor Records in 1927 in Tennessee. The Country Music Association is a trade organization that has been promoting country music since 1958. Dolly Parton, Paul Cohen, Portner Wagoner and Toby Keith are some of the popular names in country music. Bill Carlisle has been topping the country music charts for a few years now.

Classical Music History

Classical western music is a product of various influences – growth of notation, tuning systems, patronage as well as the absorption of various cultures. Western music can trace its origins to the chants of the early Christian era. Gradually, various influences came to bear upon it and classical music history was started. Influences like the Renaissance styles; Greek drama, instrumental music and French opera can be seen in Classical music. Bach, Handel, Mozart and Hayd were renowned for their unique classical music compositions. The operas of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini are examples of eighteenth century classical music. Beethoven was considered the link between classic and romantic styles of classical music. Twentienth century classical music includes the strains of Stravinsky and Reich and Berg.

Jazz Music History

Origins of Jazz music history can be found at the turn of the twentieth century in New Orleans. Around the same time, jazz music was also finding roots in Kansas City, Saint Louis and Chicago. Jazz music has significant influence from West African black folk music as well as European pop and light classical music of the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

In the early days, solo banjo or piano artists played jazz music. After the Second World War, jazz music began to spread to all parts of the world. It faced competition from other music forms like rock and roll and disco. Jazz music has since seen the emergence of innovative young players.
