Gambling Online - Sports Gambling - Internet Gambling

Gambling-the very word brings thoughts of ecstasy to some, but inspires fear and mistrust in others. Contrasting reactions to a very fundamental human activity since time immemorial. Consider the two definitions given by the WordSmyth Dictionary-Thesaurus. As a transitive verb, it defines "gamble" as "to take a risk, hoping for a good outcome". As an intransitive verb, it defines "gamble" as "to lose (something of value) by betting or risking (often followed by away)." Chronic gamblers would bet their life on the first definition. It substantiates their convictions. The second definition does the same for non-gamblers.

Gambling depends either wholly on chance, or partly on chance and partly on skill. A gambling game like roulette depends purely on chance. A gambling game like poker, for example requires a certain amount of skill too. Casino gambling and sports gambling are predominant. Money management is an important aspect of gambling.

Sports Gambling

Sports gambling is considered to be safer than the other forms of gambling. This is because apart from providing entertainment, the odds against losing in sports gambling is considerably less. Sports gambling can be done for entertainment or professionally. When you place a bet just for entertainment, you are adding some excitement to watching the games. Losing the bet wouldn't mean the end of the world. The professional sports gambler focuses on maximizing his returns on the bets he places. This requires a more disciplined approach to sports betting. Focus on spreading smaller bet amounts across a larger number of bets. The goal here is to minimize inconsistency and never put your finances in danger. The key here is discipline. You will lose. You will win. But trying to make up for losses by increasing the betting amount only increases the chances of losing. If you are on a losing streak, reassess your strategy. Your goal in sports betting should be to win more than half of your bets with good money management.

Online Gambling

There's practically nothing out there in the physical world that's not on the virtual world of the Internet - Gambling included. Online gambling is illegal in most parts of the world. Antigua, Costa-Rica, West Indies, Australia are the countries where online gambling is licensed. The most popular online/internet casino games are Blackjack, Roulette, Slot Machines, Video Poker, Craps and Baccarat.

Greenfield Online's "What Are the Odds?" study of online gamblers revealed lots of complaints about Internet gambling. Almost a third (31 percent) of online gamblers are not satisfied with Internet gambling sites. Only 15 percent of respondents feel online casinos are more fun than their offline counterparts. Furthermore, 89 percent are willing only to play for free, and a majority of those who do risk money spend less than $10 per visit. The most serious gripe is that some 60 percent of the 2,000 people surveyed believe online gambling sites are "fixed." Despite their discontent, the online gambling public visits multiple online gambling sites, with most people visiting two. Rudy Nadilo, president and CEO of Greenfield Online says, "The message of this research is that those behind online gambling sites must do more to win the confidence of people who visit their site".
