Outdoor Fountain - Outdoor Waterfall

Garden ponds can be smooth and tranquil, or dramatic, with an outdoor fountain or an outdoor waterfall. An electric pump operates below the water's surface to create the outdoor fountain or outdoor waterfall. The pump pulls water in through a screen that snags leaves and debris, and expels a steady stream through its outlet. If you want to create an outdoor fountain (an in-the-pond fountain) that arcs jets of water above the pond, attach several types of nozzles to the outlet. If you need an outdoor waterfall, or a remote fountain, run some flexible vinyl tubing from the water outlet to wherever you want the water to go. If you do not need the showy options of an outdoor fountain waterfall, a silent pond would be ideal. Place the pump a few inches above the pool bottom (you could place it on a brick or two) and connect it to an electric outlet. This creates a pond that stirs silently below the surface, barely creating a ripple.

Electricity and water is a fatal combination. Make sure to take the necessary safety precautions before bringing power to an underwater pump. Safety measures would include a weatherproof receptacle, ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI), etc. Make sure to use the right components required for underground wiring. Check with an electrician or you local community codes. If you've never worked with wiring before, it is best to leave this type of work to professionals.
